Michael is OBSIDIAN’s co-founder and CEO. He started OBSIDIAN to fill a gap he perceived in financial services that most others had missed. Making clients central to the work is just part of the process. He brings outside-the-box thinking to everything he does. From sales to high tech to financial services, his fresh perspective allows him to see things others don’t.

Marilyn deRooy is a CPA, CA, tax specialist and OBSIDIAN’s co-founder. She has focused her career on tax and estate planning for professionals and business owners. In 2015, she published her first book, Paying Too Much Tax: A Business Owner’s Guide to Corporate Structures and Saving Tax. She is a highly sought-after professional and speaker.

Andi plays a key role in shaping the client experience at OBSIDIAN. A seasoned sales professional, she acts as the liaison throughout the process, keeping communication clear and aligned. Her thoughtful approach helps clients feel supported and confident as their needs and circumstances evolve. Andi believes that understanding people well is the key to creating meaningful, lasting client partnerships.

Tyson turns strategy into action at OBSIDIAN. He works directly with our insurance and lending partners to secure the products and coverage our clients need. He draws on nearly a decade of experience as an insurance broker to guide both the selection and the long-term management of client solutions. He keeps clients at the center, ensuring their needs are clearly understood and supported.
